The Basics of Clear Braces

clear-braces-clapham
Clear braces are innovative orthodontic devices designed to efficiently straighten teeth, offering an aesthetic, virtually invisible alternative to traditional braces. They are custom-made for each patient using a series of clear, removable aligners. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks before it’s replaced with the next one in the series, gradually moving your teeth into their ideal positions. One of the key selling points of clear braces is their discretion; they are hardly noticeable, making them an excellent choice for both adults and teenagers. At Clapham South Dental Centre, we use advanced digital technology to create a precise treatment plan for your clear braces, ensuring a comfortable fit and effective results.

The Benefits of Clear Braces

Clear braces offer a myriad of benefits. First and foremost, they are virtually invisible, offering a discreet way to achieve a straight, beautiful smile. The aligners are also removable, allowing you to eat, drink, brush, and floss with ease. This facet of clear braces can significantly improve your oral hygiene during treatment. In addition, clear braces are typically more comfortable than traditional braces, as they lack the sharp edges of metal brackets and wires. Moreover, with clear braces, there are generally fewer dental visits required since you’ll receive several sets of aligners to use at home. Here at Clapham South Dental Centre, your clear braces provider, we ensure a personalised approach to meet your unique orthodontic needs.

In a world where appearance matters, the idea of wearing traditional braces can be a concern for both teens and adults. Have you heard about Invisalign as a clear braces Clapham treatment option?

clear-braces-clapham

What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign is a treatment that offers a clear braces Clapham solution as it is a virtually invisible way to align your teeth. Unlike traditional metal braces that use wires and brackets, Invisalign utilises a series of custom-made clear aligners. These aligners are crafted from a comfortable and smooth plastic material, making them both discreet and comfortable to wear.

The process begins with a consultation with our qualified Invisalign dentist, who will assess your dental situation and discuss your goals. If Invisalign is deemed suitable for your case, we will create a personalised treatment plan using iTero 3D imaging technology. This plan outlines the gradual movement of your teeth and provides a preview of the expected results. Based on the treatment plan, a series of custom aligners are created for you. Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, gently guiding your teeth into the desired positions. One of the key advantages of Invisalign is that the aligners can be easily removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Therefore, you will be able to brush and floss normally without anything impeding your efforts. Whilst wearing the different aligners, you should be able to see your smile improving. Regular check-ups with your Invisalign provider will ensure that your treatment is on track, and any adjustments can be made as necessary.

The benefits of Invisalign

Discreet appearance

One of the most significant advantages of Invisalign is its clear and virtually invisible design. Unlike traditional braces that can draw unwanted attention, Invisalign allows you to work towards your dream smile without anyone noticing the aligners.

Comfort

The smooth plastic material used in Invisalign aligners ensures a comfortable fit. There are no wires or brackets that could potentially irritate your mouth and gums, making the experience much more pleasant.

Removability

Invisalign aligners are removable, offering unmatched convenience. You can easily take them out when eating, allowing you to enjoy your favourite foods without restrictions. Moreover, maintaining your oral hygiene routine is hassle-free.

Predictable results

The 3D imaging technology used in creating your treatment plan allows you to visualise the expected outcome. This predictability ensures that you have a clear understanding of the journey to your desired smile.

Time efficiency

Invisalign treatments often require fewer visits to the dentist compared to traditional braces; this means you can spend less time in the dental chair and more time enjoying life.

Clear braces for discreet teeth straightening

Traditional dental braces have been used for over a hundred years to correct the alignment of crooked and wonky teeth. Traditional dental braces are very effective and can correct complex orthodontic issues and create a beautiful straight smile with healthier teeth and gums. If you are thinking about straightening your teeth then you need to speak to us at Clapham South Dental Centre and find out about orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment can be carried out by traditional dental braces or with clear braces Clapham depending on your individual dental requirements as well as your personal preferences. Our dentist will begin by carrying out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums and this will help us decide on the best type of braces for you. clear-braces-clapham

Fixed clear braces

Clear braces Clapham are of many different types. Clear braces Clapham can be fixed to the surface of your teeth, for example, ceramic braces or lingual braces. Ceramic braces are the same as traditional braces, except the brackets are designed to match the colour of your teeth. You can also find out about a more discreet wire rather than have a stainless steel one. However, for complex orthodontic issues a stainless steel wire may be more effective. Ceramic braces allow you to straighten your teeth without drawing much attention to your mouth. If you are still concerned that people will be looking at your teeth you can find out about lingual braces. These are more expensive than traditional braces and ceramic braces, however they offer complete discretion because they are attached to the back surface of your teeth and therefore hidden completely from sight. The brackets for lingual braces have to be custom-made to fit the inside of your mouth as the space is smaller, however once in place lingual braces are also highly effective at what they do. You can improve the alignment of your smile in approximately 12 to 24 months or slightly longer for more complex cases.

Invisalign clear braces

If you are looking for complete discretion and convenience at the same time then find out about removable clear braces for example, clear aligners. The most common clear aligners system across the world is Invisalign. First established in 1999, more than 14 million patients have straightened their teeth using Invisalign. Invisalign aligners are clear thermoplastic aligners which are almost invisible when worn in your mouth. They fit tightly over the teeth to apply pressure and move the teeth into a straighter formation. Although they are ideal for mild or moderate orthodontic needs, Invisalign can also be used for complex issues. They can be used as part of a combined treatment plan. The advantage of Invisalign aligners is that they can be taken out of your mouth and replaced as necessary and this makes them a popular choice amongst the modern generation. They allow you to enjoy your favourite food and drinks without any restrictions. They also allow you to maintain excellent dental hygiene throughout the treatment process. Invisalign aligners can straighten your teeth in 6 to 18 months and for more complex cases in up to 2 years you can straighten your teeth. Speak to us at Clapham South Dental Centre today to find out more about the different types of clear braces and let our dentist help choose the best option for you.

Invisalign; FAQs about these clear braces answered

Most adults who want to straighten their smiles don’t really want to do it with traditional braces.

Of course, if you are an adult who has a more complex misalignment, there will likely be no other solution. However, if you have a mild to moderate case of dental misalignment with your front teeth, then your best bet is to opt for a treatment such as Invisalign, the world-famous invisible aligner. Great! clear-braces-clapham

If you aren’t sure if you are a candidate for Invisalign or clear braces Clapham, then come and see our team at Clapham South. We are able to offer an extensive range of dental orthodontic options and will help you to choose the right one for you and your dental needs. Great!

So, with that in mind, what are some of the most common questions that we are asked about clear braces Clapham, or Invisalign?

Will wearing these aligners cause discomfort?

Invisalign aligners, or clear braces Clapham, are generally considered more comfortable than traditional braces. This is not to do braces down (they are awesome!), but the way that they work is just different. Braces use pulling motions to move the teeth, whereas aligners like Invisalign use pushing motions to do the same. The only difference is that aligners are not able to move the teeth as far as a traditional set of braces would. So they can apply less force.

However, after you change to a new set of aligners, there may be some discomfort for the next couple of days, so stock up on paracetamol or ibuprofen!

How long does it take for Invisalign to work?

That would depend on how severe your misalignment is and how often you wear them.

In most cases, this treatment takes between 3-6 months, provided that the aligners are worn for 22 hours or more per day. Of course, our team will be able to offer you a more accurate breakdown of how long your treatment will take when you come to see us. So, be sure to book that appointment!

Are there any lifestyle restrictions with Invisalign aligners?

Not really, but when it comes to drinking, you should only wear these aligners if you are drinking water. For soft drinks, coffee or juice, you will need to take them out, or you risk warping or staining them. As stated before, you will also have to wear them as directed, which can be a bit annoying for some people.

Are Invisalign aligners suitable for everyone?

Sadly, no, Invisalign is not suited for everyone. As mentioned before, our team will only suggest these aligners if you have a mild to moderate case of dental misalignment.

If you have issues with your molar teeth, have a tooth that needs to be rotated, or there is an issue with your bite, you may be better off trying a fitted brace.

Are Invisalign aligners pricey?

Our team at Clapham South knows that money doesn’t grow on trees. And so, we can offer you financing options to help you pay for these aligners, provided that you are suitable. The cost will vary, so call our team for a consultation to get the ball rolling.

Considerations for Invisalign; what patients need to know about the aligners

Do you want to try out invisible aligners to get the straighter smile that you want?

If so, come and see our team at Clapham South. We can offer you Invisalign Clapham, which is a smart, sleek and minimalist way to straighten your teeth. Perfect!

So, what do you need to know about Invisalign Clapham? Here is a quick guide! invisalign-clapham

You need to wear them- a lot!

When it comes to Invisalign Clapham, in order for them to be successful, you are going to need to wear them as much as you can in order for them to work.

You may not be aware, but it takes 8 hours of continual pressure on a tooth for it to begin moving. So, if you are intermittent with their usage, they aren’t going to work. Our team recommends wearing them for 22 hours per day.

They will need cleaning

Aligners are removable, hence why they are so appealing to almost everyone. However, the aligners themselves will also need a bit of TLC when they aren’t in your mouth. There are special cleaners that you can use to clean them or, if you are in a hurry, rinse them under a cold tap and remove debris with a toothbrush. Never rinse the aligners under a hot water tap or use mouthwash to clean them; the heat can warp them, and the mouthwash can stain them.

Wearing times vary

You may have read on our website that aligners take between 3-6 months to straighten teeth. This is an average. If your teeth have a more complicated alignment, it may take longer. Luckily, our team will be able to give you a timeline of how long we think it will take at the initial assessment.  So, keep them in as directed by our team and be sure to attend the check-ups and send pics.

They don’t suit everyone

We should state here that when it comes to invisible aligners, they don’t suit everyone.

If you have a dental misalignment that is complex, or you have a misalignment that is not minor to moderate, then you can’t use aligners to straighten your teeth. You will need a fitted brace instead!

Of course, aligners can be used at a later stage in the realignment process if you wish, but most people can somewhat bond with their braces and choose to wear them until the end of treatment (yes, really!), but it is up to you. Also, aligners cannot move molar teeth, so if you have a set of molar teeth that are crooked or protruding, this will not be suitable for aligners.

Wear….the…retainers!

OK, this is a point we have to insist upon! As orthodontists, members of our team are not only dedicated to moving your teeth into better positions. But we also want them to stay there.

Once the aligners are off, you will need to wear your retainers every night after you go to sleep. Why? Because teeth are moveable as they are attached to bungee-like cords. If they are not held in place, those cords will pull them back to their original position.

So, wear the retainers, or you may end up with a fitted one!

Clear braces for straighter teeth with discretion

If you are thinking about straightening your teeth but are worried by the thought of traditional braces, then you need to speak to us at Clapham South Dental Centre and find out about the many different alternatives that are now available to straighten your teeth effectively at your comfort and discretion. clear-braces-clapham

You may wish to consider clear braces Clapham.

Clear braces can be used to address different orthodontic needs to help improve the appearance of your smile and also improve your dental health at the same time. There are two different types of clear braces Clapham. You can find out about fixed clear braces Clapham if you have complicated orthodontic issues, whilst if you are looking to address the aesthetic issues of your teeth, then you can find out about removable clear braces.

Invisalign clear braces

Here at Clapham South Dental Centre we are pleased to be able to offer you Invisalign. Invisalign is perhaps one of the world’s most popular clear braces. Invisalign has been available since 1999. It is tried and tested and has helped correct more than 14 million smiles across the world already. Invisalign is one of the pioneers of clear braces and can help address a range of orthodontic issues. It is used to correct the appearance of crooked, wonky teeth, improve the alignment of protruding teeth, make space for overcrowded teeth and straighten overlapping teeth. Invisalign can also be used for patients who suffer from bite disorders where their teeth do not align properly. Whether you have an overbite, crossbite or underbite you can speak to us at Clapham South Dental Centre and we will put together an individually tailored treatment plan for you.

Invisalign works using the latest in digital dental technology. After having carried out a thorough examination of your teeth and gums to look for any signs of tooth decay or gum disease our dentist will carry out an intraoral scan. This takes thousands of pictures of the inside of your mouth to create a digital image of your teeth that we can see on the screen. We will then be able to show you how Invisalign can change the alignment of your teeth and create a beautiful new smile. From this before and after image we will calculate and create a sequence of aligners that will help you achieve this transformation. The number of aligners you need will vary depending on how complicated your issues are.

If you are using Invisalign for aesthetic issues then you may be able to improve the appearance of your teeth within as little as 6 months. If you have more complex issues then it may take up to 18 months. With Invisalign you can improve the appearance of your smile and also improve your dental health for the future.

Fixed clear braces

If we believe that your issues are more complicated then we will speak to you about fixed braces. These are similar to traditional braces, however the components are either clear or tooth coloured for a discreet treatment option, so that you can straighten your teeth without drawing attention to your mouth. Speak to us at Clapham South Dental Centre today to find out more.

Clear braces: give your smile a makeover

Do you have crooked teeth that you’re self-conscious about? If so, you’re not alone. Many people have misaligned teeth. But there’s good news! With clear braces Clapham at Clapham South Dental Centre, you can get the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted. The process should be efficient, timely and convenient with either two of our popular treatments: Damon braces and Invisalign. Clear braces Clapham are a great option for people who want to improve their smile without drawing attention to how they’re doing it. Invisalign uses clear aligners to move your teeth, whereas Damon braces have transparent brackets, making them both discreet, but there are some key differences between the two.

clear-braces-clapham

Invisalign

Invisalign is one of the most popular brands of clear aligner. It uses a series of custom-made aligners that are worn over your teeth for two weeks at a time. Each aligner is slightly different, and they gradually move your teeth into the desired position. Invisalign is a great option for people who want a discreet and comfortable treatment for mild to moderate alignment issues. The aligners are clear and virtually invisible, so you can wear them during social events and at work or school without anyone noticing. They’re also removable, so you can take them out to eat, brush your teeth, and floss, allowing you to eat normally and clean your teeth properly afterwards.

Damon

Damon braces are another type of clear brace. However, Damon braces differ from Invisalign in a few key ways. Firstly, Damon braces use a self-ligating mechanism that allows your teeth to move more easily. This means that you may need fewer aligners and treatment time may be shorter than with Invisalign. Secondly, the Damon self-ligating mechanism reduces the amount of friction between the brackets and the wires, which makes it less likely that your teeth will become sore.

Which type of clear braces Clapham is right for you?

The best type of clear brace for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re looking for a discreet and comfortable treatment, Invisalign may be a good option for you. If you’re looking for a treatment that may require less time and is also comfortable to wear, Damon braces may be a better choice.

To find out which type of clear brace is right for you, all you need to do is book in for an initial consultation with our dentist. Our friendly and experienced team will give you a warm welcome, before examining your teeth and recommending the best treatment plan for you. You can ask all the questions you need to feel fully informed, when it comes to choosing the treatment you wish to have.

Benefits of clear braces

In addition to being discreet and comfortable, clear braces offer a number of other benefits, including the fact that they can treat a range of issues such as crooked teeth, gaps, and overbites. By improving your smile, they should hopefully boost your self-confidence, especially if they help you to eat and speak more clearly.

So, if you’re looking for a wonderful new smile, why not come and see us at Clapham South Dental Centre and give yourself the gift of a super smile?!

Invisalign for the win!

Invisalign’s clear aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth perfectly and are practically invisible when being worn. To manufacture the aligners, we use advanced iTero technology to digitally scan your mouth. This 3D imaging collects the measurements we require to have your bespoke aligners produced and it can also map out exactly how your teeth will move over the treatment period to gain the desired result. We will be able to generate an animation of this happening, so you can visualise how wonderful your smile will be. All you will need to do is wear the aligners for a couple of weeks, before switching to a new one and come to see us every 6 weeks for a checkup, where we can give you some more to take home with you.

Clear braces: get your smile sorted without being in the limelight

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be a celebrity, you’ve probably imagined getting lots of attention, signing autographs and posing for photos with delighted fans. The thought of people giving you lots of attention because you have misaligned teeth may not be part of that dream. If this is your reality, however, feeling that people notice your crossbite, over or underbite, crowded or gapped teeth, then there are plenty of discreet treatment options at Clapham South Dental Centre, where we can help you to get a beautiful A-lister smile. One of our clear braces Clapham options is Invisalign. Invisalign is a system made up of removable aligners that are virtually invisible, when they are being worn. The aligners are made of transparent plastic, so other people should only notice your teeth as you are wearing them. clear-braces-clapham

How do the aligners work?

Aligners are different to other clear braces Clapham in that they don’t need to be fixed to the teeth. In fact, the aligners may be removed for up to 2 hours daily. When they are being worn over the teeth, they apply a gentle force to push the teeth into the desired position. We will provide you with batches of aligners to last for 6 weeks, and you will need to change your aligners every couple of weeks, before coming to see our dentist for a check-up.

How long will it take to see results?

We have various ranges of Invisalign aligners: Invisalign Lite is for mild alignment issues and can get results in as little as 6 months. Invisalign Teen has special features designed purely for young people, and Invisalign is for adults. These treatments typically get results in just 6 to 18 months.

Bespoke for you

Invisalign’s aligners are made to measure your mouth precisely, because we use iTero technology to digitally scan your mouth and obtain the measurements to have your aligners created for you in the Invisalign laboratory. This should allow your aligners to fit comfortably in your mouth and sit on the gum line.

Convenience and practicality

The great thing about Invisalign, aside from the fact that the aligners are virtually invisible, is that you can remove them when you are eating and cleaning your teeth. This means that you won’t need to adapt your diet to avoid damaging your aligners, and you won’t have to try and clean around them, enabling you to continue with your oral hygiene routine. Invisalign offers discretion, convenience and comfort for these reasons. You could also find that your self-esteem improves, when you achieve your great smile, as well as discovering that you have an improvement in your ability to chew and speak clearly. If you have experienced any jaw pain as a result of your misalignment, this may also be eased as well.

So, if you are looking for discreet treatment options that will achieve the star quality smile, come and visit our friendly team at Clapham South Dental Centre. We look forward to exploring clear braces Clapham with you.

The Damon System: a guide to these clear braces from our team

When it comes to straightening your teeth as an adult, there are more than a few options available. clear-braces-clapham

There are the traditional fitted braces and aligners, and then there is the new system of braces that are fitted but often faster and more comfortable than traditional options. This is because the brackets are adapted to work on a self-ligating system, which reduces the pressure.

At Clapham South Dental Centre, we are experts in all manner of orthodontic tools; whether you are looking for an invisible aligner or clear braces Clapham, we will be able to prescribe the right option for you.

Here, our team will introduce you to one of the most popular types of clear braces Clapham that we use – the Damon System. So, read on to learn more!

What is the Damon System?

The Damon System is one of the most popular types of clear braces Clapham that we use. It employs self-ligating brackets, which means the wire is held in place by a small clip instead of elastic bands. This allows for less friction and pressure on the teeth, which can lead to fewer adjustments and a faster treatment time. The Damon System also uses a unique sliding mechanism, which allows the teeth to move more freely and comfortably into their proper positions. So, it is not as pressure-based as regular braces.

How long does the Damon System take to work?

The treatment time for the Damon System can vary depending on the individual case. However, on average, treatment with the Damon System can take about 6 months to a year less than traditional braces.

Our team will be able to give you a better idea of how long it will take for this brace to work for you, so feel free to book a consultation today!

Is the Damon System a fitted brace?

Yes, the Damon System is a fitted brace used to straighten teeth. The brackets and wire apply gentle pressure to the teeth to move them into the desired position. The treatment is customised for each patient, and our team will oversee each stage to ensure that your oral health remains in good condition and that the brace is not causing discomfort.

Can anyone wear the Damon brace?

The Damon System is suitable for many people who require orthodontic treatment, but it may not be the best option for everyone. It is typically recommended for patients with mild to moderate malocclusion, although in some cases, it can be used for more severe cases as well. It is also suitable for both children and adults. However, people with certain dental conditions, such as severe crowding or jaw discrepancies, may not be suitable candidates for the Damon System. Therefore, it’s always best to seek out a dental team that is familiar with this brace (like ours!) to determine if this treatment is the right choice for you.

Will I need a retainer afterwards?

Yes, you will. Whether you have had a fitted brace or an aligner, you will need to wear a retainer afterwards. This will prevent your teeth from moving back to their original positions.
